Made for the 2012 168 Film Project "Static" is about a young girl who struggles to reconnect with her father, an astronaut in a damaged space station.
Emma has always taken for granted all her father is doing for her. Since she was a little girl, he has been in the space program and missed some of those life moments. But her life changes when something goes wrong while he is on a mission.
This short film was created for the 168 hour film race. We were challenged by taking the Bible verse Matthew 6:6 (“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”) and adapting it into a short film. In the 168 Project you are given one week to develop your concept, your script, get your crew and talent lined up, and secure locations. Then at a specified time on a Thursday, the clock starts ticking; you have 168 hours to shoot, edit, and deliver your film. I have done several 168 projects, but this was one of my favorites.
